Tail Shaft Diagnosis 200 1988

I don't know an awful lot about tailshaft bearings but I wonder if you
would get the same noise from a noisy one with and without the driveshaft.
There are things that could make it better or worse either way. Of course
if it is noisy with the driveshaft off you should certainly replace it but
it might need the weight of the shaft to make the noise. You might want to
put the tranny in neutral and turn the flange by hand, pushing in different
directions to see if you feel any roughness also.
