Alternator question.... on startup it takes a second for the voltage to rise 200 1983

Could be belt tension now that you mention that the lights get brighter. I would also think this maybe a sign of an old electrical system. I know my battery is on it's way out being that it reads about 11.9V instead of the usual 12.6 Volts. The battery is about 6 years old and still cranks good so I'm just getting my money's worth. I will most likely get a new battery in the upcoming months. Good luck with your brick. I'll let you know if my "Low Volts on Start-Up Condition" gets better with the new battery. Take Care!
