The U-joints were in pretty bad shape when they were replaced. I think they were frozen. I didn't do it personally, (at the time, it was my father's car, and he took it to a mechanic.) What I do know, is that all vibration and noise went away when the u-joints were replaced.
Is your 240 a manual or auto? I'm assuming you have an stick (I like to hope for the best.)
If it is auto in fact (Oh well), the speed between 45-50 mph might be when the automatic's OD kicks in. (I know that's about the speed I turn the OD on when I'm driving the stick.) So anyway, before your OD kicks in the car would be revving pretty high. When the OD kicks in, Revs drop, and the engine doesn't work quite as hard. That might make your vibration go away (less load on the engine).
I don't know where you live, so I don't know what the speed limits are on the highways around your area. We still have highway speeds of 55 mph here in Portland, OR (50 mph in many places). So, when you are going between 45 and 55 mph, that's probably when you are accelerating to merge on the freeway, and that is usually a time when you put quite a bit of load on the engine (so during that time, your OD doesn't turn on).
See if turning the OD off (I think you can do that on an auto with OD) makes the car vibrate when you are going over 60 mph next time on the highway after the vibration goes away. If the vibration comes back, it might tell you something. What, I'm not sure, but it could tell you something.
