Tom, if the old seals were "very bad" then I have to believe that some massive failure of lubrication was occurring along the length of the valve stems. This strongly points to severely worn guides, stems, or both: there is just no way all that oil could be flowing down into the cylinders without some major wear. Did the boys at the machine shop check the valve stems for wear? Any way to check the guides without replacing them?
I am more and more convinced that Shatz is some heavenly being living a charmed life under the beneficent hand of the Creator. Ain't no way a 1992 960 could avoid all this otherwise.
