hi well this pipe is going to your heater core through the fire wall, now the O ring deal, 1st take a small wire brush (with the golden looking bristle to avoid corrosion)and wire brush the pipe very well scrape any loose metal from the pipe, then at the autoparts buy grey silicone for water pump ask for it like that they know and install your O ring on the outer part of the pipe then put a small beed of silicone around the O ring and some around the pipe that is going in the water pump, also the peace that hold the screw bended back just a bit this helps the pipe to go all the way and stay in the water pump.
