Headrests: 1977 - 1979 interchange? 200 1977

Hi all,

Was there a change made to the chairs between 77 and 79? I have a seat from a 77 and various headrests from 79 through 84 all seem to be spaced about 3/8" wider. Not the obvious difference that 86 brought, but just enough so I can muscle the tips into the top of the sockets but not be able to fully insert and latch.

It looks like there was a small change made, or perhaps I have a seat back with unrevealed internal damage.

Thank you all for a great forum.

P.S. - I solved my problem with the aid of a rubber mallet, but I'm still curious about the possibility of change I wasn't aware of.
