Diagnostic codes question 700 1990

Check out the diagnostics modes in the FAQ. It tells you how to use the OBD-1 probe. The mode 2 and 3 are not for error codes exactly, and the blinking lights are for diagnostics. The only way you can pull or clear error codes is in mode 1.
Removing the battery cable will clear the codes, but also resets a lot of other stuff.
And also - what do you mean 'trying to stall'? Inanimate objects have no feelings, don't give them any excuses to not work perfectly.
Is it stumbling? sputtering? all but stalling and then coming back?

Good Luck
