Yes, I had the device (I called it an idle speed compensator), that needed a wire from the A/C compressor, on my old '80 B21F.

It actually worked great. Before I installed it (it was an optional part from the parts counter), my idle would bog down whenever the A/C compressor cycled on -- it almost died, in fact. But after installing the thing, everytime the compressor cycled on the idle would be "goosed" a bit, just enough to compensate, and the net effect is that the idle remained somewhat steady (in fact, it increased very slightly, ~50rpm) when the compressor engaged.

That said, by my '83 B23F, this nifty device was no longer needed. The ECU increases idle to compensate.

Bottom line, you don't even have the device in your car.
