Sticky Black Mastic: What is it and can it be bought? 200 1993

I agree with you--this stuff is a mess. I have the same situation you do--the mastic has stuck to the top of the sunshield and is all over the interior. I did get it off of the carpet and upolstery using an upolstery spot cleaner I got at Walmart or somewhere like that (it is a foam in a can and it has a built-in plastic scrub brush head). Worked pretty well, even if sometimes it seemed the stuff came off mainly due to friction.

I am going to scrape the stuff off the windshield with a razor. In an earlier post on windshield replacement it was said that "real" lacquer thinner will cut the stuff. I'm going to try that on the hard surfaces that still have the stuff on it.

Hope this works.
