VIEW    READ ONLY    PRINT   SAVE   A    A  rod bolts 900 posted by  trichard on  Fri Jul 3 13:48 CST 2009 Author: [PROFILE] [EVERY POST] [THREADS] [BEST POSTS]     [IGNORE ALL POSTS] last visit: Sat Nov 21 19:20 CST 2009 [RELATED] according to arp company.......they make headbolts and high quality bolts for special torque applications they recommend tightening and loosening each bolt up to 5 times before applying the final tightening under torque. they state that scientific evidence proves that new bolts even with lubricant used require about 5 tightening/loosening repetitions BEFORE all inherent friction of the new bolt threads is equalized allowing for the final torque to be accurate.
