You take a small flat head screw driver, there is a locking ring that slides either towards the car or away.(only moves about 1/4inch. That releases the mirror from the housing. If you glue that, you can never replace the mirror without replacing the entire housing. I used some silicon that stays flexible and put some on the "knubs". Hard to describe.
