Is their a safe way to change strut mount bearings 200 1985

1) Loosen nut on the top of the strut while it is still in situ
2) Put 2 spring compressors on and tighten a bit. You don't need to tighten them very much because the spring is already compressed by the weight of the car
3) Undo the 3 securing bolts on top of the turret
4) Support the car and lower the suspension slowly until the rubber sealant breaks free inside the turret. Let the suspension hang as low as possible.
5) Undo the large nut and withdraw the bearing assembly.


There are people who do it entirely with metal clamps, not compressors. I think that really might be dangerous, as well as possibly not giving enough compression to get access to the top mounting.
