Thanks for the reply. An exploded diagram would be great. Can't find one in the Haynes or Chilton's (I know, but came with the car) manuals. I also looked at the cleanflametrap.com site. Plenty of diagrams for the four-bangers, nothing for the V-6. Don't have that much time or money into the car, has been going together fairly well once I got the parts I was looking for (i.e., new injectors, hoses, belts, vacuum lines, water pump, air/oil/fuel filters, thermostat).
Got the car for a song: $100 purchase price on a car with 72k on the odometer, garaged it's whole life, maintained by the dealer with excellent records most of it's life, it's a beauty. Just need to put it all back together and I'm coming up empty of ideas on the mounting of the alternator. Checked with the dealer, has diagram for the mounting hardware (not on the motor) but the bolt and adjustment arm (in stock) are different than that pictured. Mounting bolt (from dealer) also doesn't fit any of the available holes for mounting. Even had the parts guy come to my house to look things over. He's puzzled too. Nothing in the p/p yard with the PRV (V-6) motor. Is there such a thing as a 9mm bolt? An 8mm is too small and a 10 mm is too big. Tried both fine and coarse thread pitches. Do I need bushings for the mounting bracket? At least I could order those.
What's entailed in the conversion to a I4 motor? Do I also need a new tranny (I have the automatic)? Best options? Do the motor mounts swap right in also?
