Whoever suggested that has no knowledge of Regina FI.
Or doesn't know the difference between Regina's MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor and Bosch's AMM (Air Mass Meter) functions.
Randy's suggestion about jumpering the RSR connector is a good one, but another approach is to test the actual injector "firing" you mention. That's done by the ECU supplying a ground pulse to each injector. The +12v side should get constant +12V from the RSR (or the test jumper) as long as the Fuel relay is energized.
The injector grounding pulses are easy to test with the inexpensive "noid light" shown below. They come with different style terminals to fit various FI systems. You'll need the "Bosch Type" (even with Regina FI). I think mine was $6.95 at NAPA a couple of years ago.
Just connect it to an injector plug and watch for the flashes when cranking. No flashing indicates that the ECU is probably not being "conditioned" by timing pulses from the Ignition CU, which itself may not getting the basic Crank Position sensor pulses. Regina ECU problems are all but non-existent, IMO.
