Vehicle speed, RPM, throttle position (is a primary input), current gear, engine & trans temp, PNP sensor and E,S,W switch. Sounds like one of the inputs is confusing the TCM. I know mine shifted funny when the PNP was going bad (but not the same as yours). Perhaps you can check the PNP sensor and the E,S,W switch.
