Car came without a splash pan and I never put one on. I've put about 130,000 miles on it in that time. I have run for about 2 years without the upper timing cover on. Did the A/C bypass so that I could have power steering (required to get the car inspected) and other than collecting dirt on the camshaft sprocket have suffered no ill effects.
