Plus, either way you're disposing of old tires. The tire/road interface is just about the most important thing with a car. Of course, good used tires may trump low-end new tires, so that may change the equation. Granted, finances ultimately dictate what you do, but if you can afford to put good new tires on, it's worth it in the long run. We're needing to do the same with our '87 240.
