Auto Trans output seal leaks - seal-only or seal AND bushing? 200 1988

AT has a small leak at output seal. PM seems worthwhile here.

Was about to replace seal and in reading FAQ here I see that folks often replace the bushing. But it isn't clear why.

Is it that: The bushing wears -> lets the output shaft wobble -> wears out the seal?

This shaft isn't loose and there's no vibration so I just assumed the seal had lost it's elasticity over time & miles.

Should one always replace the bushing; or only when the shaft is loose?

And as I understand it in the FAQ: you can do the seal on the trans; and do the bushing on the trans if you have a specialized puller. But if you don't have the puller you have to pull the tailshaft and drive it out?
