A/C question, evaporator or orifice? 700 1990

The A/C on my 745Ti hasn't worked since I bought it. But I have moved to a hot area, and wish for it to work again. So, I knew my low side had a low pressure (about 18lbs of R12). Added a bit to bring it up to charge, compressor started cycling as normal.

Now, when the compressor kicks on, you hear a hiss in the dash which gets louder as the compressor runs, then the compressor kicks off after about 10 seconds and the hissing fades away. Then a few seconds later, the compressor kicks on again, and the hiss returns. That cycle continues. This hissing can only be heard from the cabin. Is this clearly a leak in the evaporator? The low side holding pressure indicates that it's definitely a leak in the high side, right? Perhaps this is the orifice? I'm going to DIY the repair, so no, a shop is out of the question (I WILL have the R12 removed and the system vacuumed by a shop though).

The air is warm and the low side pressure is ok.

Thanks!
