Running ignition tests B23F 200 1983

My new '83 wagon has the Bosch red cap distributor. At the moment, I have a no start problem. I am replacing the cap and rotor, which look shot. I want to run tests on the switching function of the ignition control unit and power to the Hall sender.

My dilemma is: This particular distributor does not have a harness connector with which to facillitate a jumper or test light but instead, wiring running through a small plastic square mounted on the side of the distributor body. No plug of any kind. I have found no reference to this type of setup on the Brickboard or in my manuals.

How will I accomplish these tests with this type of variation , and should I consider replacing this distributor with a more conventional unit?

Thanks, Jim
