Hi all,
I was cruising FCP Groton's brake parts page to compare rotor prices with the $30 cad plated rotors Ken C. mentions in scorron's Smooth as glass thread when I noticed the ATe masters I used to buy new for $40 are up to $95 now. Whew!
But something's been puzzling me about our '91 cars. One has ABS, one doesn't. But the one that doesn't have ABS has a two port master with a pointy reservoir and level sensor instead of the octopus (differential pressure warning sensor) that goes hand in hand with the rectangular 2-chamber reservoir.
Sure, it has two pipes and the dual-diagonal plumbing, but the octopus has no switch or port for one. And the ABS master, with only one pipe, looks like it might be the same internally (two cylinders) or at least the same casting as the older masters. Well, maybe not. They do look different in the photos.
I suppose if I ever need to replace that non-ABS master, I'd order the older one and swap reservoirs- it looks like they'd interchange. Don't need help now, but I'm certainly curious about other's '91 brake systems, as that year both versions were available.
