89 760T ECC Ambient Temp sensor 700

Yesteday my AC button light started blinking and, following the procedure in the 700/900 FAQs, I extracted the fault code for the Ambient Temperature Sensor on the blower housing. I cannot identify the sensor. I have a Haynes manual that shows a diagram for the location of the sensor on "later" models (mine is a 1989) and it looks nothing like what I am seeing. I removed the glove compartment and lower plastic shroud under the glove compartment and took a good look around, but nothing looks like what the manual shows.
If someone can help me locate the sensor I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks,
Alan
