John,
There are a number of reasons besides the cat for nigh NOX numbers. Check this on the 700/900 FAQ here on the Brick Board ....

If you do need a cat, there are a lot less expensive after market direct fit cats available. Is you Brick a 940 or 960? You might try pricing a new aftermarket cat at FCP Groton or some other online source.

A 940 after market cat should run about $150 ... the 960 is about $300.
