940SE Saga continues

Well I got the head off today. I have a bigger problem. I found that No 1 piston has a serious problem. A portion of the top of the piston is melted away down ,to the top piston ring, directly a the point were the exhaust port is located. Also noticed a similar problem but not as severe is developing on the opposite side of the piston on the intake side. I will take pictures and try and post them this weekend. I have never seen anything quite like this before. The other pistons are normal.

I plan on boring and installing new pistons, change the bearings and probably the oil pump. I have purchased a rebuilt head so just about everything will have been changed on the engine when I get through at lot more than I had planned on, but the car is more than worth what I will spend on it.
