auxiliary brake light - wiring 120-130

This post results from the tedious task, just completed, of tracing wiring faults that cause one or other of the fuses to blow. My number 2 fuse was blowing repeatedly and, thanks to the Brickboard, I traced it to the rear light cluster.

Anyway, my question is: is it possible to fix up one of those third brake lights in the rear screen so that it is wired to a different fuse than the existing brake lights?

My theory is that if the No.2 blows again at least I will have a back-up brake light and be (almost) road legal. I find that the brake light is the one bit on No.2 that I require to work all the time. The horn I use infrequently (but if I lived in NY...) and the reversing light is a positive bonus if it is working but again not obligatory.

If anyone has a nice slim-line model in their car, please post the product name and how difficult it was to wire up.

Tom
