How do you dismantle a 122 ignition lock cyllinder? 120-130

Hello,

There were at least 3 different manufacturers of tumblers for the 122/1800/544/444.

Which one do you have?

Regardless of even that information, the locks are usually either crimped together and/or made of pot metal.

Either way, the tumbler assemblies are usually trash by now and are usually not the real cause of the problem of breaking keys anyway.

It is the amount of effort it takes to move the electrical switch part of the coil assembly that usually breaks the keys, especially when trying to start the car.

That is why the installation of starter buttons is so popular in older Volvos.

Are you aware that new replacements tumbler assemblies with new keys are now available again for the early Volvos with removable ignition tumblers?
