I believe that the OEM TSTAT is made by Wahler of Germany and that is all I use not the French after market or others. If you look around you should be able to find the Wahler brand and I beieve it comes in 82C/88C/92C.

88C is good for all year use but if you want faster and better heat in the winter the 92C would be best changed out in October and then in April back to the 88C

I'd advise the 88C thermostat, or whatever is closest to that, and use the factory one, or one of the aftermarket ones made by the same folks who make the factory one. (forget the maker)
More important though is to toss the 150kpa cap used on the B230's and install the 75kpa cap used on the earlier B21-23's. There is NO NEED for a 22 psi cap on these engines, and all they do is pop hoses and water pump seals. I have yet to figure out why the factory thought 22 psi was required. What, they needed 275F boiling point? I don't think so....

I'm kinda having problems with mine, 93 240 all stock, I replaced the rad when I bought it and the parts store sold me an 87C degree thermostat. on 90+F degree days with the ac on it heats up right, but if i go to start it again in the evening it will usually stop 1/3 of the way up on the gauge. i need a hotter one but don't feel like spending the money for a new one, so I deal with it. In New England an 87C may be what you want.

On the plus side, it never goes past 5/8ths of the range.

Stock.

I think stock is 92C for NA cars, 87C for turbos. I have a 92C in my 740GLE, and it seems fine. In the winter I feel the hotter thermostat is better, but I question that in these humid 100F Appalachian summers.
