1993 940 fan switch temperature range 900

I picked up an electric fan/relay/wiring/radiator switch (push in style) at a PnP today.

Can anybody tell me if I can use the aux fan switch (Volvo part number 9135545) to run the relay in my 240? Or is the temperature range too high for everyday running?

I know grounding the blue-black wire is slow speed fan, white-black wire is high speed.

I have a push in switch plug in my radiator.

Can anybody figure out the temperature point where it would ground?

If you are adding the e-fan as an auxiliary to the engine-driven stock unit, the rad swich should be wired to turn the e-fan on to high speed. This is because that rad switch closes at about 95C, and since it's located at the "cool" side of the rad, things are real hot by the time it acts.

If you decide to go ahead, get a new rad switch grommet from Volvo. They are cheap, and since it's the only thing holding that switch in there against the coolant pressure, you want a nice, fresh OE item.

E-fans as a total substitute for the engine driven unit have their fans (ho!) and their detractors, but I believe one very knowledgeable poster (Dave Shannon, IIRC) here went back to the original after going through a lot of experimenting and trouble to get an e-fan in his 240.

the fan on 940 is controlled by ECU via (FI) coolant temp sensor. imo on a e-fan retrofit to 240, the easiest way to switch the fan is to get a compatible 940 ECU and add the lines to ECU plug pins 10 and 11.

I did it on my other 240-> piece of cake. Just had to wire up the trigger ground wire (blue-black wire on the relay) through the radiator switch. Works great!

But that one had a screw in type radiator switch, and the radiator came with the right temperature switch.

Seems the stock 940 switch triggers too high to use for regular driving. Anybody have the right part number for a temperature range around 82/77?

The ones I've seen have been either 93 or 95 C; much to high for anything but an auxillary fan.
