last visit: Sun Nov 22 02:03 CST 2009[RELATED]according to arp company.......they make headbolts and high quality bolts for special torque applications they recommend tightening and loosening each bolt up to 5 times before applying the final tightening under torque.
they state that scientific evidence proves that new bolts even with lubricant used require about 5 tightening/loosening repetitions BEFORE all inherent friction of the new bolt threads is equalized allowing for the final torque to be accurate.

Torque to yield (15 ft/lb + 90 degrees) fasteners are not meant to be reused. Remember to oil the threads before tightening.
