I need to put tires on the above mentioned car. I see that the car came originaly with 195/60/15 not 205/65/15. Which size should I go with. The car has IPD 25/25 bars. I also have a 1992 745 turbo and it originally came with the 195/60/15 tire size, where as my friends 1994 945 turbo came with 205/65/15 Same car as far as I can tell what gives?

205/60's are an easy upgrade, and lots of good performance tires available in that size.
Recently got some 16" wheels from a 700 turbo, those have 205/55 on them. Even more performance tires in that size...

The 205/55s will probably be the least amount of speedometer error, but they do some at a slight premium..

I believe the factory callout is 195/60-15 for the turbo equipped cars. Just for grins I'm running 215/45-17s on one of my 1985 245Ts. A harsh ride, but a lot of fun through the twisties.

get the size best matched to the original 185R14 (that's metric, and translates to 185/82-14).

i use 205/60-16 with hydras. less than 2% difference between my odometer and GPS.

I've always run 205-60-15s for the better load rating.
If the speedo's off, I don't notice.

You can go with different tire sizes if you'd like: Google "tire size calculator", and you'll find the Miata club's spiffy java app to figure out speedo differences with different tire sizes.

The official size should be listed in the owner's manual or on the door, but the stock size for 700/900 turbo's with 15" wheels should be 195/60-15. That's the size I'm running on the 240 with Draco wheels (15").
