AC questions - before I jumper my compressor 700 1987

Hi folks,

I reached down and turned my compressor by hand, as fast as my finger could turn it. I heard bubbly noises in my receiver/dryer.

What does this mean? I am surprised that there would be enough coolant/oil/whatever in the system to create flow. Perhaps the system is OK, and the reason it does not work is because of electrical issues?

I am tempted to jumper the compressor and, if it runs, simply run it long enough to see if it cools.

Thanks!

Ari

If you jump it and it comes on , then it might be good. There is an low pressure switch on the accumulator. You can jump across there to. The low pressure switch keeps the compressor from coming on when the system is low on refrigerant. You don't want to keep it on too long with the jumper wires.

No a/c expert here, but if it won't come on normally, but will run by jumpering it. Usually a sign that refridge is low. I won't run it "to see if it will get cold".
