Whoever suggested that has no knowledge of Regina FI.
Or doesn't know the difference between Regina's MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor and Bosch's AMM (Air Mass Meter) functions.
Randy's suggestion about jumpering the RSR connector is a good one, but another approach is to test the actual injector "firing" you mention. That's done by the ECU supplying a ground pulse to each injector. The +12v side should get constant +12V from the RSR (or the test jumper) as long as the Fuel relay is energized.
The injector grounding pulses are easy to test with the inexpensive "noid light" shown below. They come with different style terminals to fit various FI systems. You'll need the "Bosch Type" (even with Regina FI). I think mine was $6.95 at NAPA a couple of years ago.
Just connect it to an injector plug and watch for the flashes when cranking. No flashing indicates that the ECU is probably not being "conditioned" by timing pulses from the Ignition CU, which itself may not getting the basic Crank Position sensor pulses. Regina ECU problems are all but non-existent, IMO.
Google on noid light for sources and prices.

last visit: Sun Nov 8 22:34 CST 2009[RELATED]Please clarify for me; I'm not understanding your summary --
Are you saying that Rex Regina's almost never have ECU problems?
Or, are you saying that Rex Regina's commonly have ECU problems?

I'm saying that Rex Regina's almost never have ECU problems.
At least I don't recall any being reported here in the 6+ years of almost daily scans since I got my 940 in March of '03.

last visit: Fri Nov 20 22:44 CST 2009[RELATED]Are you familiar with the radio suppression relay?
Not sure where it is on your car. Probably mounted on the passenger side shock tower; there may be two there, the other being the fan relay. Relay is black and sealed around the base with silicone.
You can use a short piece of insulated wire to "jump" the two heaviest wires in the radio suppression relay socket. If the car starts (injectors fire) you have found the problem. Resolder the circuit board on the relay or replace the relay.

last visit: Wed Jul 8 17:48 CST 2009[RELATED]Randy,
I could kiss ya
well I have 2 relays, tried swapping them, still nothing
I then jumped 3&4 from left side plug
a sweeter sound I have not heard
I have a clutch fan not electric
I took both relays out and they both were fried, I think beyond repair, so unless relay is $100 plus I won't both messing with them
now back to the darn codes
If there were no codes of course I would address the holy trinity
CPS
fuel pump relay
and RSR
but since there were other codes I went that route, ignoring my instinct
SO fellows you have been marvelous
to all, TRUST your gut
check the basics
and when you get the answer write back, thats what makes this work right
Cheers
Liam

You don't have a second (auxilary) electric fan?
It would be unusual to find two "fried" relays. Did you actually open them up and look at the circuit boards? Chances are reflowing the solder joints will restore the relay- worth a shot at it because it produces a free fix.

last visit: Wed Oct 28 18:42 CST 2009[RELATED]I have an 89 regina,,it maybe that wires are corroded going through the fuel sender&Or the injectors are not opening because of the power amplifier that the coil mounts on.&then if you've been having probles for a while,,the catalytic converter [had a muffler shop replace my header&the dillweed forgot to replace the oxygen sensor in the NEW header&left the plug in place that came that way&it finally plugged up my cat.] may have become plugged up.
Mine has been running like a clock for the last 1&1/2 yr....since I traced those parts as being a problem.
