I recently replace the evaporator in my 960 (it was surprisingly straight forward) and was planning on replacing the expansion valve with one of the variable orifice valves. but when I removed the old one and started to insert the new one it looked liked the replacement would hit the first turn of the tubing leading to the evaporator before it went all the in past the union. Is this a problem or will it work as long as the o-rings are seated against the tubing wall? I didn't want to test it and get it all greasy since I figured on returning it. Has anyone else run into this? The replacement valve is Factory Air 38902 that I got from FCP Groton.
