Voltage Gauge: Drop when A/C On 200 1989

Previous owner installed Tach and Voltage Gauge. Voltage Gauge range is 10-16 Volts, so one volt is a large movement of the pointer. When AC is turned on, Voltage drops about one volt, and stays there.
Is that the clutch?
Obviously, if the gauge wasn't there, I would not even be aware of it. But with the gauge there, I can see a change when anything is turned on or off. Could be a case of too much information.
What is your experience with this?
