In either case, a rebuilt rack from Jorgen Auto comes with the the minor parts needed to interchange, in the event that your rack is not the original one per ID tag.
I assume other rebuilders do the same. I was happy with Jorgen.

last visit: Sat Nov 21 22:11 CST 2009[RELATED]The tag should be in the trunk-on the passenger side, below the back window if your car is a sedan. On the wagons it should be located in the spare tire well. The tag will not specify by type name but rather as "steering gear 1" or "steering gear 2". Beyond that--if your tie rods have a rubber disc at the outer ends that the boot fits over you have a ZF----if the boots reduce in size to the tie rod shaft size, it's a Cam Gear. -- Dave

last visit: Sat Sep 12 10:11 CST 2009[RELATED]Not sure where the sticker is on the 1990 model, but mine (1980) is on the radiator support just a bit to the right of the hood latch as you are standing in front of the car looking at the engine. However if your car has ever had significant front end damage from a crash and was repaired or the car was totally repainted, it's possible that tag was removed or painted over. Not sure what else to offer on this problem...
