Should I get 17" rims? 200

A friend of mine has a set of 17" wheels and tires for his Saab that fit the bolt pattern on my 245 but, of course, the offset is wrong. Right now I have the IPD sways and am thinking of getting lowering springs. I'd need to get the offset adapters but they run $300 at iPD. That's pretty much what I'd be spending on the rim and tires combined.

Anyone ride on larger rims? I don't remember the tire spec, but they're lower profile than my 205/60/15s and seem to have the same diameter. It would be nice to have the wider track that the spacers give. But is it worth the $300?
