last visit: Tue Nov 10 12:46 CST 2009[RELATED]In my experience, the 'just a click' response, while sounding like something awful, is either a weak battery or unclean battery cable terminals or both.
Also, being a lazy sort, I always check the easiest and cheapest things first.
Use a special terminal cleaner brush to get the lugs and terminals clean and shiny. (I've found that the red and green rings sold at parts houses and Wal-Mart seem to reduce/eliminate any corrosion build-up.)
If you can, jumper cable the battery, and let the connection stay on for 20 to 30 minutes with the donor car running above idle. Then try the start again.
If you have a battery charger (a good investment) let the battery be on a low charge overnight.
Once you get things running, take some time to check the condition of the alternator brushes. Since the labor to check them is about the same as the labor to replace them, have a new set on hand.
There is a ratio or percentage of how far down the battery power drops for a given low ambient temperature. Since I am in the sub-tropics (Houston) that is no longer a critical item for me - could be for you.
Cold weather also means keeping the battery acid/water level up to the mark. Check often, have a little distilled water available.
Good Luck,
Bob

last visit: Sat Nov 21 11:56 CST 2009[RELATED]That means the solonoid is not getting enough power. Did you try putting a charger on the battery? Also one of the battery cables might be loose. That starter requires alot of power.
