My 240 just started not wanting to crank, once it does it runs rough for 30 seconds to 60 seconds, then seems fine...but i smell gas like its rich?
also when i stop for a short bit and turn the car off like half an hour it does not want to crank up and i smell gas even more.

i have no leak that i can see or find?
i replaces the relay that controls the fuel pump at start up?

J's check of the injectors is a good call. If you find nothing amiss there, I might suggest that your ECT (engine coolant temperature sensor) has failed. It's under the number three intake runner. Extension, universal and deep 19mm socket will snag it.

Pull the spark plugs, if one is covered in soot, the injector for that cylinder is probably leaking. This is not common, but it does happen if the car has sat for a while and the fuel filter hasn't been replaced on a regular basis.

Beyond that, the fuel pressure regulator might be leaking, to test this, remove the vacuum hose from the FPR and look for wet gas, a sniff of gas may also indicate a FPR problem.

Finally, is the ECU throwing any codes? If yes, let us know what they are.
