Replaced distributor & spliced connector/ no start 200

I replaced the white capped distributor with a bosch from a donor with the same year. I spliced the connector to the hall sender. First I couldn't get a reading from thye A contact (according to Bentley) on the plug. I pulled at the wires a little and found one came loose. I fixed it and got a reading on contact A. I then took out the #1 cylinder spark plug and hooked it up again to its wire. I taped it to the top of my valve cover so it touched the oil filler rise. I got no spark when trying to start the car. I then jumped B to C contacts on the plug. I didn't get a spark but rather a sound like the fuel pumps turned on briefly and a short buzzing sound coming from the engine block.

I used the splicing connectors that you crimp. Maybe I should try soldering the splices. Any one every run into this problem.
