I've done this job before and don't recal;l ever having so much trouble. I have just bought a 1990 240 for my son and the e-brakes were frozen from lack of use. I took the driver side rear rotor off and freed up the pivot but now when I try to assemble the shoes I can't seem to get the large lower spring into the slots. I assmbled the shoes except for the bigger of the two springs but can't seem to get that spring to reach across. Is there a "trick" or do I just have to get a something like a needle nose vise grip to pull the spring across from one shoe to the other or should I install this spring first and then do the top part? Any suggestions appreciated.
