Junk yards are a difficult places to be in .One reason is that staff at many places is uncoperative .If you haggle for price or even suggest a different price they may not just sell you .
It has happened to me in the past. First time in 3 years of visiting JY's I found a elusive ECU - 572 at a JY . It is not U pull it types. Luckily on first day he showed me the car that is how I came to know about it. I did not like his price of $150 that too without any type of warranty.I went again after 1/2 hr to see other parts , he did not let me in and said, "come next time". I thought my mistake.
2nd time after couple on Saturday I showed up asked him to get the part . He said,"come on Monday" ,won't let me pull it and moreover got more confused by uncommon 572 as it did not show up in whatever reference he was using.
3rd time I called on Monday and in addition asked about AMM . He said 75$ . I blurted, "Buddy brand new 001 AMM is for 100$" . He got pissed off by that and said,"You have come here couple of times,I can't help you and banged the phone". End of negotiation.
He was suspecious and unsure about what he was selling . I could have handled him in a better way. There ought be some tips about negotitating with JY guys.
Pick n pulls are far better they sell all ECU's for 35$ .It is just a matter of getting lucky.
