No, but the dis-insentive is there and doing damage. As you spelled out above, it's a really screwed-up system, especially taking into account all the hidden taxes.

I'm not sure I followed the part about the elasticity curve and 1:1 ratio. Maybe you could explain that to me in an email.

What do you think of a national sales tax replacing the income tax? Even with all the other existing taxes, wouldn't it be an improvement over the current IRS craziness?
