I was in the grocery store today, in the check-out line, the guy in front of me reeked of pot and alcohol. What were the items he was buying??? Simple, a case of beer, a carton of cigarettes, and a bag of chew, if memory serves me correctly, he paid nearly $80. After he was done, I paid for the shampoo, soap, Diet Squirt, and skim milk and walked out of the store. Okay, I bought a carton of smokes as well.
When I went to leave the store, there was an early 90's Chissler minivan right in front of the door in the no parking zone. The person that was in front of me in line was beating on the fuel pump under the floor while his presumed "wife (two kids in the back of the minivan)" was cranking the key in the hopes of getting the POS to start! It finally started, he hopped in the passenger side and the van died again. This time he comes out with a baseball bat and whacks the fuel pump, the wife starts the minivan, hubby gets in, wife revs up the engine (roughly 4500RPM) and drops it in gear, tires chirp, van lunges and the trans pukes its guts out the bottom. He then hops out and removes the rear plate and tells the wife and kids its time to walk home.
I spoke with the guy for about a minute to see if I could help out, his response was stunning! "Naw, I didn't pay a penny for that van, folks bring cars to my shop for repair and when they can't afford the repairs, I just put a lean on their ride and drive it until it dies.
Gee, and all these years I've wondered why I don't trust mechanics!
