Is Consumer Reports to be believed?

Why bother with Consumer Reports when you can get the information right here on the BB, straight from the actual consumer?

That said, while I am not up on the particulars, their findings sound in line with what I heard, but very generalized. I know of no engine issues, unless you count the ETM on the 99-2000 models. Only tranny issues I've heard of are with the early five-speed automatics. Then there's the well-documented issues with the V70XC AWD system.

I wouldn't let any of that keep me from buying one. They are very nice cars for the money. I'd much rather deal with one of those problems every 100K miles or so than sit in an awful Toyota seat every day.

Good luck,
Will
