Looked at a used Volvo today which had had its odometer messed with. Some investigation based on the VIN code makes it pretty likely it was a taxi in Sweden with real mileage somewhere in the vicinity of 200-400K km. (a Volvo dealer here in Tallinn, Estonia said from the VIN it's a taxi and that they average about 200K km per year)
Anyway, we're wondering whether to run away screaming or get it checked out by a reputable mechanic and make an offer if he doesn't find anything wrong with it. For what it's worth, the car looks great and the guy at the lot readily admitted the odometer was not right. (apparently it's par for the course here) So what's a 2007 V70 R diesel worth if it has 400 000 km? ;)
Any thoughts, similar experiences?
Thanks,
Märt
