What if Sil was wrong?

If you follow the sequence of this thread, you'll know damned well what post I was responding to. Going back to the post you cited here is just you opening up another escape hatch.

Maybe a civilized debate is just what is needed.

A civilized debate is going on in the scientific community. The political debate that takes place in another reality is a different matter entirely and is only remotely related to finding a solution to the problem. If and when it becomes relative to the real issue, it will, most likely, be too late.

If we are polluting to a point of no return that is bad.

No, not bad: curtains. With that prospect in mind, what I do, no matter how insignificant its impact, makes more sense than the actions of those who find comfort in denying the existence of climate change and pinning their hopes on a return to the status quo ante. The end, my friend, is more final than higher taxes and a bad economy. I say that without raising the possibility that taking action to reverse climate change may actually be a boon to the economy and national security. That it would do wonders for our health and that of the environment is a substantial lagniappe.
