At some point over the weekend, I heard a rumor to that effect, either on radio or TV news, or in the paper. Not only that, but there would be an all new manufacturing plant, either in the US or somewhere in North America, which probably means Mexico.
This is not to be confused with the return of the Ford Fiesta, which is planned for exactly the same time frame, and will also be built in a new plant in Mexico. This was announced several weeks ago, much to the disapproval of the UAW, who had lobbied hard for the new factory to be built in Michigan.
There was also an article in Autoweek about the return of Alfa Romeo to the US at about the same time. The car in the picture was a small hatchback, similar to an Alfa 147, and it is to be called Mi.To., in reference to Milano, where it was designed, and Torino, where it will be built. No price was mentioned, but it looked like a competitor for the VW GTI and the C30.
Could it be we will get some interesting fuel efficient cars before all the gas is gone?
