and?
Vespa.
Yes, it looks like with gas prices finally on the mark for 4$ a gallon, and diesel higher, I will bring a 2 wheeled vehicle back into the stables. Why not? I rode enough of them in Europe, might as well at home.
The price tags are a beat steep, on the Mercedes of a scooter, but I don;t see Yamaha producing anything, in the speed, and class I want, and those with the powder are basically mini versions of the Honda Gold Wing and cumbersome. 7K for a 250cc Scooter? I don't think so.
Aals, though I yearned for an old familiar face from childhood- the 76-82 Yamaha Enduro 125, it is no longer possible to get one that is street legal. The 250 Enduro is just too jacked up, and the 200KT is geared wrong. I would have to change out the sprockets. The beauty old ones I found, well, I think short of a parts bike, you are stuck getting crap parts from CHina should something breake. So my dream of a 700 dollar little zinger went out the window.
The Vespa 200GT will happily shriek along at 74 mph with my small frame, but handles like a mini sport bike. Genuine Scooter of Chicago bought out the designs of the defunct Greek zipper the Stella, and has a new 150cc International Line that rates at 70+ at 1500 less in $$$$. It is slightly smaller than the Vespa 200, and so might be perfect. But it also might not have that right combo so familiar in the 240, of weight stability and power.
The next few weeks will tell.
If I get one, I'll have someone follow me in a car and film me like from TAXI, and maybe I'll even put on a big wig.
