Is Subaru the safety equal of Volvo???

... "Subarus are the "...safety testing equal to the Volvos...."

How do you folks feel about this? We all (on this BrickBoard) have bought Volvos (and especially the older models) for one or more of the following reasons, including safety, longevity, ease of repair/maintenance, and for some models we might even add reliability or dependability. But let's just consider the safety issue, given the subject of this thread. ..."

Feeeeeel about it ?!?!?

What comes to mind in response is that Volvo for years sent out thier own investigators to accident sites to survey and analyze those accidents. Any crash test footage one saw on TV up untill recently was always a Volvo. As a result Volvo appeared to me to be a company that had some integrity and a genuine concern for safety.

My 83 245GL was rear-ended twice. It's still going strong! The first time, the passenger in the VW that hit me, had to be airlifted to hospital and it's front end was completely trashed. I drove the wagon home, albeit shaken up some!
