On the one hand you will have the people who have faith in the basic principles and values of America and trust that the system of law and governance that we have inherited is suited to adequately address the task before us. On the other hand you will find those who are basically cynical at their core and openly hostile to the very concepts that they claim allegiance to. These people like to put on airs and make a lot of noise about how "patriotic" they are while underneath their skin-deep facade of pomp and circumstance they actually harbor a lack of faith in the essential utility of American values and institutions. In their hearts they prefer the simplicity and expediency of authoritarianism and at the first sign that our principles have become inconvenient they never hesitate to vociferously advocate for the abandonment of everything that sets us apart as a nation and defines us as a people.
You summed that up pretty well.
Treat them like Ramzi Yousef, that worked.
Try & restore USA to it's pre-Gitmo days, don't be content to settle for something you'd see in China or Russia.
